Following on from Mondays blog post about the design revolved around the coffee spill dress, we thought we would also share this sketch with you.

The coffee spill in this sketchbook has leant itself nicely to colour the background of the koi of the sketch.

With an old tattoo style to the sketch and the repeated nature of the koi intertwining into each other, it is almost as if the fish are swimming along the coffee spill.

A very nice sketch with a Japanese feel. Very nice work.

This morning, carrying on from yesterday, we are working on a brand new infographic. We have collated and collected, arranged and sorted through hundreds of facts to bring you some interesting facts and figures on the current situation of UK driving.

TDO have put together the most interesting facts about cars in the UK and we are currently in the middle of arranging this information into a new infographic.

This is just a quick little blog post with a teaser graphic with the style of the graphic.

Another quick blog post here of an absolutely stunning sketch.

A perfect blend of lines, composition, colour, white space and imagery.

We particularly love the way the unfinished sketch lines allow your mind to fill in the blanks. There is a perfect balance between how finished the detail of the tattoo is (even though it is has a loose and free style) with how open and accurate the pencil sketch lines are.

The watercolour running enhances this unfinished aspect making it even more stunning. The blue of the hair almost reminds of the sea, with a beautiful mermaid feel.

The fact that you cannot see the subjects eyes also draws the viewer right into the piece, and causes the focus on the tattoo, helped by ...

The cover image of the legs hanging over the skyscraper is breathtaking. The angles running down truly captivate the viewer, but that breaking line directly through the centre of the road keeps your eye moving around. Its very engrossing. We love it.

Over the past couple of (working) days here at TDO, in between completing a few Christmas projects for clients, we have been working on a new illustration just for fun!

Just a very quick blog post this morning just to show off this image we have stumbled across. When looking for some source imagery on Friday we came across this and really liked it!

Simple in both concept and design but there is something really elegant about it.

What do you think came first the spill or the picture?

We really like this method of combining materials and mediums and mixing things up with a fusion of elements.

Between client work that we have got going on at the moment we are spending every spare minute producing a nice 'just for fun' illustration/ infographic.

Today, we added a kettle to the mix!

We really like our coffee here at TheDesignOven so we need a good kettle.

We are heavy users of Twitter for countless reasons; business promotion, sharing our work and blog, addiction... but none more so than the discoveries that you can make in that wonderful place!

TheDesignOven recently joined Visual.ly - a website that is a network for designers of infographics and a place to showcase infographic work. You can see our infographics on Visual.ly here.

Naturally, we were very excited when we received an e-mail saying our work was of standard to be featured on their front page. Excellent news.
