Building Typography

These are the works of Omar Aqil.

The concept of these works is very simple, creating large buildings from big bold type letters. However, the delivery of these is superb.

The low level and subdued red lighting with purple / blue shadows helps to create a really blended image. Part of their appeal is definately the gradiented and low saturated colour scheme. It is remensicent of the flyer design that TheDesignOven created for a retail outlet SALE.

The designer, hailing from Pakistan, has obviously put alot of thought and consideration into the...

Headphones Animation

Well, we have just been BLOWN AWAY in the office.

This animation breakdown by Paul Clements (a Motion Graphics Designer with a very impressive portfolio) ofa pair of headphones being formed is one of the best we've ever seen.

The build up, the music, the cresendo action, the process and the final delivery. Everything just works so well in conjunction. A masterpiece of post-production if we've ever seen one.

Make sure you take the 2 minutes and 49 seconds out of your day to see this at least once. It's currently eaten up at least 20 minutes of our day, and we'...

Sad Walk

All animators have had that awkward moment of what your walk should look like.

If you aren't an animator or illustrator, you're probably thinking, well a walk is a walk! Right?

If that was your thought, then check out : BioMotionLab.

BioMotionLab has delivered an excellent little web application with controlable sliders that differ the walk cycle dependent on features such as gender, emotion and nervous state.

You will be surprised at the combinations, and how the walk can be effected by a persons expressive nature.

If you are an animator, this is a brilliant little tool to bookmark as a guide to some basic emo...

Ratatouille End Credits

We LOVE Ratatouille. The food included, but we are talking about the slick animated film by Disney Pixar.

Over the Christmas period, during one of those food and movie filled days we watched (for at least the tenth time) Ratatouille. What an excellent example of character design, rigging, animation, personification and rendering. A master class from the experts. But that is not what we wish to talk about.

Our attention (not for the first time) was grabbed by the closing credit sequence.

Absolutely Stunning! The only way to describe them. We hope you aren't one of those people at the site of the directors name to turn of, because what f...

Rational Geography Animation

We are heavy users of Twitter for countless reasons; business promotion, sharing our work and blog, addiction... but none more so than the discoveries that you can make in that wonderful place!

We came across this animation (on the website of Multiminded) by total chance when we stumbled across their Twitter feed. I mean how many times per day does this kind of thing happen? Countless?

We just thought it was well worth sharing. A real nice example of a concept to delivery piece of animation. Of course it is not without it's faults (but which animation isn't, for those of you out there who know what I mean!). They can always be better, which we k...
