Bonsai Tree House

Being such fans of the dwarf trees and with one member of staff an owner of a Bonsai Tree, when we found these fantastic creations online we just had to share them with our readers.

The level of detail that and concentration requried to make these sculptures can only instill us with the deepest of admiration.

Truly beautiful work.

We want one for the office now!

Barcelona Football

What a photograph!

It is no wonder that Barcelona and Spain have become the best technical sides on the planet when you look at this!

A beautiful composition and even more stunning colouring captured by the photographer. The photo, which was submitted to the 2011 National Geographic Photographic Competition.

The photographc shows these 'aficianado' players competing on a pitch which has looks surreally and impossibly placed into the middle of the dense city suburbs of Barcelona.

The colour from the deep blue at the top coming down to the lime green of the pitch at the bottom exudes vibrance.

Well worth sharing!

Spooky Lighting on old Church

Whilst stumbling this morning, this image cropped up.

Despite the image not being the most colourful, the most well exectuted or the best quality there is just something absolutely captivating about it.

The way the brightness of the raking light draws the viewer in even though it is bursting out really enticed us. There is a real intruige to the image.

Unfortunately didn't get the creators name, but very nice work none the less.

Intricate Leaf Cut Out

We often consider the level of detail that goes into our designs as seriously intricate and detailed, but we've had to double take when we 'stumbled' across these designs this morning!

Lorenzo Durán is the artist responsible for these leaf cut-outs.

The level of concentration and planning to create such detailed designs on a small scale as this must be very painstaking! We would suspect there will be a fair few leaves scattered in his desk bin! And that he cut a frustrated fugure during the making of some of these pieces of art!

We are particular fans of the top two with their number of tiny slices.

Very impressive work.

Long Exposure Photography

There are hundreds and hundreds of examples of Photoshop and Illustrator tutorials abour recreating long exposure photography lighting effects, but TheDesignOven asks... Can you really beat the real thing?

It is going to be the focus of our next series of illustrations for this blog.

It has long been something that has fascinated us. Lighting effects. The change of lighting in an image can dramatically alter an image to a huge degree. Many clients ask for photographs to be changed, with lighting effects added, particularly for eCommerce product shots. Subtle lighting can make products appear more appealing online, and more dramatic and energy filled lighting can make even the most static of ...

Blur Building

Yverdon-les-Bains, Switzerland

An inhabitable cloud whirling above a lake

Blur building is a project from Switzerland which has made a building on Lake Neuchatel which appears to beconstantly floating within a cloud just above the lake.

It was part of the SWISS EXPO 2002, and is dubbed as a media platform.

The fog is created from 13,000 nozzles where water from the lake is sprayed out into into an artificial cloud over 300 feet wide and 65ft tall! The fog cloud is responsive to changing climate conditions such as temperature and humidity.

Throughout the structure are winding passages and ...

Surreal Light Illustration

Earlier today we showed you some excellent illustrations using negative spaces.

After looking around on the artists website, we just had to add the images shown above to the 'must see' category of our blog!

Tang Yau Hoong's Surreal Light series of illustrations are breathtaking. They are the personification of simplicity, but they just ooze class.

We'll let you make your own mind up on the images we have shown above, but be sure to leave us you opinion using the form below!

We're still musing over their brilliance in the office!

New York Architecture

Last month we showed you the ultimate house to buy in our blog article about the $25m apartment in New York.

This month, thanks to our friends over at The Cool Hunter, we have been educated on a less expensive, but equally impressive, alternative residence.

Well, adjudged by the title of where we came across this, this truly is... 'Cool'.

The brain child of Dean-Wolf Architects, a New York based company, is perfectly executed. A windowless warehouse which is filled with light bright spaces! Unbelievable brashness ...

Pencil Sketch Burn

Part 2 of our blog post showing off the work of Ben Heine's 'Pencil vs. Camera' series.

You can view Part 1 of our blog entry here.

The images shown above highlight more of the creative and illustrative qualities of the artist.

In particular, the photographer with the bursting camera is a brilliant image. You really are drawn into the artists mind through his lens, with an illustration of his imagination pouring from the camera lens.

The ants carrying the heart cut leaves along the wire is our ultimate favourite of the series however. Fascinating creatures ironically and beautifully detailed ...
